NL 00803: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Posteligibility Notices

A. WHEN TO USE

Issue an SSA-L8165-U2, Supplemental Security Income Important Information, manually if you waive part but not all of the overpayment.

B. PROCEDURE

  • Begin the notice with paragraph OPTM52 (NL 00804.210).

  • Follow paragraph OPTM52 with the caption “The Reason for Our Decision.”

NOTE: The rest of the notice, beginning with this caption, is identical to the SSA-L8173-U3 or SSA-L8174-U3 , as appropriate.

  • Follow the instructions in NL 00803.225 for the SSA-L8173-U3 and SSA-L8174-U3 for distribution and mailing.
