A. When should you purchase a non-Social Security Administration (SSA) translator

Use non-SSA translators who charge a fee for their services only when there are no other reasonable alternatives. The purchase of a non-SSA translator is subject to regional budget resources. (See GN 00301.330D for alternative translator choices.)

B. Fee guidelines

Do not exceed a fee of $100 maximum per document without the approval of the Regional Office.

C. Manner of payment

Make payment by third party draft (TPD) or through the OF-347 Order for Supplies or Services. For information on using OF-347, see AIMS, Material Resource Manual, chapter 06, instruction number 17.
